The Native perditellus halictid (Ceylalictus perditellus), is also commonly referred to as the Halictid Bee. From the genus Ceylalictus (prounounced “sail-a-lick-tuss”), there is only one Australian species of this group, Ceylalitus perditellus.

The species are known to have a considerable colour variation, especially with those found on the west coast of Australia (specifically WA), who are more heavily marked-yellow then those on the eastern coast of Australia.1

The following photos of the Ceylalictus perditellus were taken in a garden in Alice Springs feeding on the flower spike of a ponytail palm (Beaucarnea recurvata).

In the same plant the Ceylalictus perditellus bee was captured by lynx spider.
