Bougainvilleas (genus Bougainvillea) can be seen growing around Alice Springs, with a variety of different colours and shades including red, pink. purple, orange to gold and white. They are often seen in garden settings and lining fence perimeters.
The Bougainvillea is a genus of thorny ornamental vines/bushes/shrubs, that have also been seen shaped into tree forms. Native to eastern South America, they belong to the four o’ clock family, Nyctaginaceae.
