Darwin and the Top End offers some great annual festivals and events to combine with your visit exploring a spectacular region.

If you are dreaming of palm trees and sunsets, then Darwin is the place when the rest of Australia is in the grip of winter. The Dry Season (May–October) is the Top End tropical winter, with balmy nights and glorious nights.

Events such as the Darwin Festival is a vibrant arts and cultural experience. For some, a sense of fun is to participate in the Beer Can Regatta. There is also the Darwin markets, the most renowned being the Mindil Market where you can try one of the fabulous food stalls before heading onto the beach for a spectacular sunset.

    The Darwin Festival is a vibrant arts and cultural event with an eclectic and substantial program that takes advantage of Darwin’s delightful dry season weather and spectacular outdoor venues. Usually held over 18 exciting days and nights, with local and touring performances and events including outdoor concerts, workshops, theatre, dance music, comedy and cabaret, film and visual arts.

    Known as the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, it is the heart of Darwin’s cultural melting pot. Here you can enjoy the stalls offering tantilising and incredible local and international cuisine to an array of arts, crafts and service stalls. There is art and culture to enjoy, set to the backdrop of the spectacular sunset.
