Fulgoromorpha (Planthoppers) > Planthoppers Index
We present here a selection of some of the interesting Australian Fulgoromorpha (Planthoppers), that are found here in Australia. The infraorder Fulgoromorpha, in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha, is a group of over 12,500 described species worldwide, and are commonly referred to as planthoppers.
The name is said to come from their resemblance to leaves and other plants of their environment, and that they are said to “hop” similar to that of grasshoppers, although most planthoppers tend to walk very slowly.
