Leafhoppers describes members of the family Cicadellidae. Usually quite small insects, they are also colloquially known as hoppers, their hind legs being modified for jumping.
Found worldwide, they constitute the second-largest Hemipteran family, with at least 20,000 described species. Some species are considered pests.
