Central Australia is far from being an arid desert region that is devoid of life. Many creatures call this region home, whilst others are migratory and passing through. Yet when conditions are right, some of these migratory species stop to procreate. Other fauna including a range of mammals, marsupials, reptiles, amphibians, insects and arachnids live in Central Australia, with many species, especially insects and spiders yet to be discovered and identified.

Many visitors and even the locals share an interest in some of the elusive fauna, with a growing number that specifically are interested in the insects and arachnids to be found here. The topic of native bees, wasps and beetles are sought after, especially when all you need is your mobile phone to document your discovery.

A starting point for many visitors coming to Central Australia in anticipation of seeing some of the wildlife is our local Alice Springs Reptile Centre, Alice Springs Desert Park and the Kangaroo Sanctuary, to see what creatures can be found here in Central Australia.
