Desudaba psittacus, belongs to the infraorder Fulgoromorpha, a group known as Planthoppers. The species Desudaba psittacus is commonly known as the Green and Black Planthopper.
This distinctive planthopper has the black head and black wings, that cover a bright green abdomen with white dots along it. A large hopper to about 15-20 mm, when it opens the wings, a bright red patch is visible on the base of each hind wing.
