The Australian Golden Orb Weaver Spider (Trichonephila edulis) has a wide range, and can often be found in home gardens and around town, their webs hanging between man-made structures and trees. It is also known by the shortened form of Golden Orb or Golden Orb Weaver.

It can be a large spider if it does not become prey to birds in particular.

With a variable body size, it is the female of the species whose body can reach up to 40 mm length, whilst the male of the species can grow to about just 7 mm in length. In the following series of photos, the tiny spider was observed trying to approach the female, but always keeping a safe distance.
