One of the spiders that can often be seen in their webs in the Olive Pink Botanic Garden, as well as throughout Alice Springs, is the Australian Golden Orb Weaver Spider (Trichonephila edulis).

The Golden Orb Weaver is a fairly large spider and hard to miss in their web (which can be quite large, especially if they are strung between trees and shrubs). The body of the female of the species can reach up to 40 mm in length (not counting the legs).

The male of the species is usually quite small in comparison, a mere 7 mm in length, although some males are large, known to be a couple of centimetres in body length.
