After the male has mated with the female Golden Orb Weaving Spider (Trichonephila edulis), the female creates a single egg sac, wrapping it with silk and sometimes a mass of golden silk. She usually hides the egg sac away from the web. The egg sac is often hidden in, under or on foliage, sometimes tucked beneath a curled or peeling bark. The egg sac may also have bits of leaves and debris clinging to the webbing around the egg sac.

Whilst most Australian Golden Orb Weaver Spider egg sacs are white, some will have the golden yellow webbing, either partially coating and holding the egg sac in place.

Sometimes it may not be so easy to hide the egg sac. In this instance, the Golden Orb Weaver had their web in and between Dead Finish (Acacia tetragonophylla) shrubs and had laid her egg high up in the branches of the shrub.
