There are many native bees to be found in Alice Springs and Central Australia, varying in size, some of the native bees are quiet small, such as the tiny bush bees (Austroplebeia), to the larger Amegilla bees. There are the colourful Xanthesma, the Megachile aurifrons with their distinctive red eyes and the red-headed Hylaeus ruficeps, just to name some of our native bees.
