These evocative bronze figures by the British artist and sculptor Laurence Edwards, titled “Walking men”, 2018-22 (on loan from the Nock Art Foundation) conjures up a variety of emotions.

Created in the artist’s studio and foundry in Suffolk, England, the artist has sculptored beings that are anti-heroic. It is as if they have come from the earth itself, with branches, leaves and clods of clay woven through their bodies… as of from the ground they came. Indeed, they are powerful and expressive, survivors from a futuristic post-apocalyptic world… yet they allow you to make your own interpretation of who and what they are.
