The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney occupy one of Sydney’s most spectacular positions located around Farm Cove on the edge of Sydney Harbour. Also known as the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden, it was established in 1816, and is the oldest scientific institution in Australia.
Tourists and locals can enjoy the many spaces to explore and to just sit and commune with with nature, relax with family and friends, whilst overlooking the beauty of Sydney Harbour. The botanic garden is easily accessible from different entrances, and visitors can walk into the botanic garden from via the Opera House forecourt.
There are guided tours, the Gardens Shop and some delightful eating places in and around the gardens. There is plenty of space and areas where visitors can bring the family and a picnic to enjoy a great days outing.
The only remains of the Garden Palace are the carved Sydney sandstone gateposts and wrought iron gates, located on the Macquarie Street entrance into the Royal Botanical Garden Sydney.
The botanic garden is home to sculptural exhibits, some are travelling exhibitions, other are permanent displays.
This is a continual work in progress, with more information coming…
