Lower North ShoreBalmoral

As you gaze from the southern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, across the waters of Sydney Harbour, you can see a portion of the Sydney Lower North Shore. Connected by the Sydney Harbour Bridge and with ferry and boat access across the harbour, the Lower North Shore offers some great scenic locations, beaches and more spectacular water views.

The commercial and geographical centre of the district is North Sydney, a large business hub with skyscrapers (housing mostly financial services companies), shopping malls and a small nightlife scene. Just south of North Sydney is the harbour and the densely populated suburbs of Milsons Point and Kirribilli. It is here where you will find the northern foundations of the bridge and a waterfront promenade with excellent views of the city skyline and the Opera House. It is also where you will find Luna Park, a historic theme park by the water.

To the east is the visually stunning Mosman peninsula which includes the suburbs of Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Mosman. Throughout this area are quiet harbour beaches, natural bushland reserves and magnificent mansions with private jetties. It is also where you will find the world famous Taronga Zoo.

Sydney Lower North Shore is a region north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge that encompasses the local government areas of the Municipality of Mosman, City of Willoughby, Municipality of Lane Cove, and North Sydney Council.

The Lower North Shore is used to apply to the suburbs between Middle Harbour and the Lane Cove River, although more loosely used to include the suburbs of Hunters Hill, Gladesville, Woolwich and Huntleys Point.

The three main bodies of water that surround the Lower North Shore are Sydney Harbour on its south side, Lane Cove River on its western border and Middle Harbour on its east. The Lower North Shore borders the Upper North Shore when the Lane Cover River and Middle Harbour are at their closest.
