The Long-nosed Dragon (Gowidon longirostris), sometimes spelt Long-nose Dragon, is seen around Alice Springs, in people’s garden and local parks, enjoying the sunshine basking on rocks and logs. Whilst it might be named after it’s nose, it is their tail that is impressive, being longer then their body length.

They are a swift small reptile, that can scoot off in quick time, especially when it runs off on its hind legs, a comical sight to witness.

Whilst a common species found across much of Australia, it is here in Alice Springs that you have a high chance to see one and maybe get up close.
