This sculpture commemorates Biggles, a schnauzer dog who was a much loved local member of The Rocks community in Sydney.

Slightly larger than a mini Schnauzer, Biggles was a well known member of The Rocks community, who would be seen on the back of a bike, travelling in a milk crate, with his daredevil pillion-riding owner Trevor Kelly, keeping control.

This statue stands outside the house of where Biggles lived with his owner, Trevor Kelly. It is on the corner of Atherden and Playfair Streets in The Rocks.

Popular among the local residents and shopkeepers, Biggles would roam The Rocks area, sometimes seen leaping from balconies in pursuit of cats.

It was of course an unfortunate final leap, when Biggles leapt off a cliff near Mrs Macquarie`s Chair, after what was thought to have been a rat.

Biggles was fourteen when he died and is now immortalised in the statue created by artist, Anne Dybka, who herself was a resident of The Rocks.

The owner of Biggles, Trevor Kelly, died on the 9th April 2021, at the age of 79 with his ashes scattered with Biggles.
