Alice Springs Butterflies & Moths (Lepidopterans) > Butterflies | Moths
The larva of Destolinia lineata is the caterpillar of the Streaked Notodontid Moth. The caterpillar is a pale bluish-green, has a pale mauve head and purple line along each side of the length of the body. This line is more evident on the early instars, and in the final instar stage, the line is wide on the thorax, narrowing and faint towards the rear of the abdomen of the caterpillar.2
The Destolinia lineata pictured here was found moving across the paved area in Alice Springs (possibly falling out of the eucalypt tree in the area).
