Known as the Long Crab Spider (Runcinia acuminata) or Pointy Runcinia, this spider was once known as Runcinia elongata. A common spider that have a long cigar-shaped abdomen, narrowing at both ends, but not to a point. The abdomen appears wrinkled towards the rear.
The female body length is about 10 mm, whilst the male is smaller at about 6 mm. Their front two pair of legs are stouter and longer then the other legs. They have large spiny hairs underneath the tibia and metarsus. The cephalothorax (the fused head and thorax) is brown, fringed with a pale central strip running lengthways.
They feed on moths and other arthropods. They often make nests in the seed heads of grasses.
