Dolomedes facetus (Elegant Water Spider)Colour variation

There are colour variation in the Dolomedes species, with some slight colour variation within a single species such as the Elegant Water Spider (Dolomedes facetus). This medium to large-sized fishing spider, also vary in colour slightly from young to adult.

Of course, when photographing the Dolomedes facetus, the background and time of day can influence the perceived colour of the spider. The following is of the same spider within a time frame of 15 minutes or so, from having netted it out of the swimming pool to releasing it in the fish pond.
