ChrysididaeStilbum cyanurum (Large Cuckoo Wasp)
Stilbum cyanurum, is one of the larger species of cuckoo wasps, family Chrysididae. They are about 20 mm in length and has a wide range of colours, with the typical species being a bluish-green to bluish-violet. Some are known to be reddish-gold.
Native to Australia, the species has a widespread distribution, including southern Europe, North Africa, the Afrotropical Region, Australian Region, East Palearctic ecozone, Near East, and Oriental Region.

Cuckoo Wasps feed on the nectar of flowers to feed on nectar. The females lay their eggs in the nests of Mud wasps, Sphecid wasps and Megachilid bees. The larvae then hatch and feed on the food stored in the nests and the host larvae.
