Wasps > Wasps Index

Australia is home to many thousands of native wasp species, plus a few introduced and feral species. Whilst some species of wasp live in groups, many species of wasps are solitary, such asthe Potter Wasp (Delta latreillei). They also come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes, and some with unusual common names such as the Velvet Ants, whose female of the species are wingless and hairy.
