The Silver Wattle Leaf Beetle (Calomela ioptera) is a brown Acacia leaf beetle with blue colouring in the elytral puncturations. Calomela ioptera has been recorded on a number of Acacia species.
The Silver Wattle Leaf Beetle has the typical body shape of Calomela species. The head and thorax are orange-brown in colour and they have black eyes and antenna that are orange-brown and black. The legs are also orange-brown. It is the cover over the wings that help ID the species with lines of metallic green-blue dots, against a background of orange-brown.
All the stages of larvae through to adult can usually be found on the same host plant. The larvae are pale green in colour.
