Thynnid Flower WaspsThynnid Wasp – Female

Pictured here is a wingless female Thynnid Wasp (about 11 mm in length) that was rescued from a swimming pool in Alice Springs in Central Australia, NT. This Thynnid Wasp may have been either blown into the swimming pool by the prevailing winds or even accidentally dropped by the male whilst attempting to mate or having mated, then dropped. This female wasp was still alive, but it was unknown if she had recently mated or if she had mated, whether she had laid any eggs.
