Commonly known as Spiny-headed Mat-rush (Lomandra longifolia), this is a fast-growing hardy grass, with tough glossy and strappy green leaves. It can reach a height of 1 metre and 1 metre wide. It has clusters of perfumed, cream to yellow bracts that appear on flower spikes.
A widespread species found in forest, woodland, grassland, rocky areas and a variety of other habitats. Popular in street verge and garden settings.
