A prostrate annual herb that is native to Australia, India, and Sri Lanka, Commelina ensifolia has a number of common names including Scurvy Weed, Scurvy Grass and Wandering Jew.
Producing roots from the stem at the nodes, the plant has fleshy leaves and stems and are covered in pale hairs. The flower emerges from a cup-like bract, that is also cover in pale hairs. The fruit of the plant is enclosed in a large bract.
