A medium-sized nomadic shorebird, the Australian Pratincole (Stiltia isabella), in the family Glareolidae, is commonly found in the arid inland parts of Australia, where they come to breed. During the breeding season they are found from south-western Queensland to northern Victoria and through central Australia to the Kimberley region in Western Australia. A migratory species, they then winter in the northern and eastern parts of Australia, as well as further afield in Indonesia, southern Borneo and New Guinea.
