From small to medium size trees, the Fork-leaved Corkwood (Hakea divaricata), sometimes spelt as Fork Leaved or Fork Leaf Corkwood, has foliage that forks into several sharp, tough needles, which is a muted green in colour. The flowers occur in spikes from 5-15 cm long and are yellow-green.

Whilst they can be a dominant canopy species in some areas, they are usually seen as scattered trees in arid region, floodplains and woodlands.

When in flower, it is a popular tree for honeyeater birds and insects, including native bees and ants.

Pictured here, the Fork-leaved Corkwood is coming to the end of the flowering season in Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary.
