Finke Two Mile Bush Camping Area

Finke Two MileAustralian Pelican Cleome viscosa Silverton Daisy

Often associated with the coastline, the Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus), when conditions are right, is found across Australia, including arid inland desert regions. They often disperse to where food is available, as was the example when the normally barren Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre filled with water in 1974 to 1976.

The Australian Pelican has also been seen here in the Alice Springs and surrounding region, as seen here at the western end of the West West MacDonnell Ranges, at a place called Finke Two Mile (also known as Finke River 2 Mile).
