Known as the Bush Cockroach (Elipsidion humarale), and found here in Central Australia, pictured here is Elipsidion humarale that appeared to be sheltering behind the pupal case of the bag moth Hyalarcta nigrescens in the Alice Springs Desert Park.

There were two pupal cases of the bag moth Hyalarcta nigrescens attached to the eucalypt tree. The bush cockroach then turned around on the pupal case, walked on to the trunk of the tree, but stayed close to the pupal cases.

Elipsidion humarale is a bush cockroach native to the northern part of Australia, found from west of Perth in Western Australia, across to east of Brisbane in Queensland and down through Central Australia to Alice Springs, Northern Territory.
