Belonging to the family Formicidae, ants are an interesting group of insect that are found in all of Australia’s terrestrial habitats, from coastal to bush, rivers, lakes and wetlands, rainforests, woodlands, shrublands, heathlands, savannas, grasslands, and arid desert regions.

As you walk around the Alice Springs Desert Park, keep a lookout for the may specieis of ants that can be found in the arid region of Central Australia. As well as looking at the ground, various ant species can be found on plants including shrubs and trees.
