So the next day I went back and there was Little Dave, as I said before he was the most amazing fisherman I had seen. I kept going back day after day, I could not get enough of watching him. It might have been 6 months down the track and one morning I rocked up, got into a different spot so the images looked different. Little Dave was even more frenetic this morning and then off to the side I saw her, “Jezebel”, a little female and Dave was catching fish running over and giving them to her. I stayed for nearly 4 hours on my stomach in the water and he fished the whole time, he caught over 150 fish that day and gave her over 100. She just stood over on the edge and accepted each fish. He was running and dancing and it was just amazing, I was thinking she is one lucky lady.

The next morning the same and the 3rd morning the same again, then came a larger male, he circled then landed and “Little Dave” flew straight to him, they scuffled a bit then the “Thief” sidled over to Jezebel spend 5 minutes with her and then they both flew of together. Seriously what an asshole.

Don’t get me started on Jezebel. Little Dave then spent the next 5 days in the side pond just standing there, kinda head down and had that gutted look that any bloke would have if this happen to them.

He just looked defeated by day 5, had given up. The first photo says it all, look hard, just sums up how sh*t he was feeling and looking.

So anyway after day 5 and I was starting to get worried about “Little Dave”, then, it happened, this drop dead gorgeous stunning blond with soft fluffy feathers flew in and landed, and she was just, well “Beautiful”, like a graceful ballerina.

Little Dave looked up, his beak dropped, dead set it was a jaw dropping stunned mullet look and he just stood there staring mouth open, I am laying here going, shut it mate, compose your self don’t let her think you are interested, play it cool.
Then he fluffed his feathers, jumped up and down, he was so excited, then he just bolted, ran as fast as he could, he then stopped and again just stared.

TIP
If you own a camera that has a green dot, or green setting that says AUTO get a texta and black it out. The green setting is so the camera can take an average of everything it needs to take a photo, “AN AVERAGE” so you can only ever get an AVERAGE PHOTO, stands to reason. You have to learn to shoot in Manual or maybe AV at a pinch. You need to learn what shutter speed does to your feathers, what f-stops do to your back ground, you need to control the things you need, and really it’s a couple, speed and light, ISO, don’t ask me, look it up, read your manuals, learn what every button does, every control in the menu’s and settings. Take control of the camera.

I know some of you are saying, I am to old, to busy, too camera illiterate. I was once, but when I learned to take control, then I had control. Did I want the wings to be frozen, have a little movement, back ground blurred, or sharp, you can control all that, after awhile my fingers were changing settings as I was shooting from frame to frame, it just happened, you no longer thought about it. If you do this one thing, I guarantee, you images will improve 100 fold. It will become easier and every time you pull the trigger you will get a top quality image. Worth a try.
