The plant family Proteaceae includes Banksia, Grevillea, Macadamia, the Waratahs and many other native trees and shrubs.
The Proteaceae family is almost entirely restricted to the continental landmasses of the southern hemisphere including Australia (800 plus species), Africa (400 species, 330 plus found in the South Western Cape), Central and South America (90 species), Madagascar, SE Asia, New Zealand, New Guinea and New Caledonia.
