GeckosBynoe’s Gecko Eastern Tree Dtella Southern Spotted Velvet Gecko
Gehyra versicolor, previously known as Gehyra variegata, and commonly known as the Eastern Tree Dtella, is a species of gecko found across large parts of eastern and central Australia from Queensland, New South Wales, northern Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
The Gehyra versicolor (Eastern Tree Dtella) should not be confused with the other similar gecko on walls around Alice Springs, Gehyra purpurascens (Purplish Dtella). Gehyra purpurascens has a finer, reticulated pattern and is usually a bit chunkier around the neck.
As well as colour, the patterning on individuals within the species Gehyra versicolor can vary between “weak pattern variant” and a “strong pattern variant”.
