Eucalyptus macrandra is a mallee (the term mallee refers to Eucalypt species that have a multi-stemmed, growth, arising from an underground rootstock – lignotuber). The common names are Long-flowered Marlock, River Yate and Twet.

The Long-flowered Marlock has smooth light brown to greyish bark, usually about 3 m high, although it has been observed as a tree up to 6 m.

The juvenile leaves are lanceolate (a narrow oval shape tapering to a point at each end) to broadly lanceolate, with the adult leaves being lanceolate, between 55-120 mm long and 10-25 mm wide.

The flower buds are usually in groups of up to fifteen, being narrowly conical or horn-shaped operculum, between 18–30 mm long and 3–4 mm wide. The flowers are pale yellow. Flowering occurs from November to December or from January to April.

The fruit is cylindrical or hemispherical (an elongated cup to bell shape), 6–9 mm long, 6–7 mm wide.

The Long-flowered Marlock is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia, and found in a variety of soil types. Occuring in occuring in depressions, river plains, along stream banks and semi-arid regions of the south-west region of Western Australia.
