Also known as the Australian Crow, the Torresian Crow (Corvus orru ) is a native Australasian bird that play an important role in natural pest management.

They are quite common in the northern half of Australia, with their natural habitats including grassland, woodland and urban gardens. Whilst they feed on insects, they also prey on small rats, and mice. They will also eat dead carrion, such as witnessed at Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary, taking the opportunity to feed on the drowned Zebra Finches. They also eat grain, fruit, and invertebrates eggs.

They have adapted to the arid inland regions of Australia, but mainly where there is permanent water.
