Back out bush, I have to put one last one on from last week’s pics, the bee I was actually searching for, my latest new bee discovery (Thanks Ken) Euhesma “taylori” 😄
Yeah, I know, it’s not that simple… You have to collect a specimen and have it properly analysed and officially named, but here’s the thing… when I see a gorgeous new bee (or any other native living thing) that I’ve never seen before, “Quick! Kill it and find out what it is!” just doesn’t spring to mind… 😅 Sure, I understand the importance of collecting (when it comes to museums, not so much personal trophy hunting…), but when it’s the only one I’ve ever seen I want to protect and preserve it 😄 and I don’t mean with formalin 😆 If it’s feedin’, good chance it’s breedin’… perhaps if I take it, the offspring won’t make it… Bag it and tag it and send it to Ken? Or let it breed up so I’ll see it again?… And that brings me to the point of the post and why I had to put this one on.
These pics are from a week or so back, hoping for better pics… I went back out several days ago and in the space of less than a week, this Hakea (and pretty much every other) had completely dropped all it’s flowers, not a bee in sight… 😢 So that’s it for this girl, may not see her again until next year… unless she also likes Verticordia and Honey Myrtle, ‘cos they’re about to explode into flower any minute… Probably already started, find out tomorrow, 27 degrees, no wind, day off… Wooohoo! Bush run! 😆
