The Giant Grasshopper (Valanga irregularis) is part of the family Acrididae. The species has a number of other common names including Hedge Grasshopper, Giant Grasshopper and Giant Valanga.

The largest of the grasshoppers, they are found mainly in the Australian tropics and subtropics, although they are seen in Central Australia, west coast of Western Australia, and southern parts of South Australia.

They usually are live as solitary insects, but can be seen in large groups.
