A beautiful looking Pyrgomorph, commonly known as the Queensland Spotted Pyrgomorph (Greyacris profundesulcata), in the gaudy grasshopper family Pyrgomorphidae, subfamily Pyrgomorphinae.

Belonging to the order Orthoptera, this colourful insect is a member of the suborder Caelifera, that encompasses the grasshoppers, locusts and allies.

Mainly observations record them only in Queensland. They are said to feed on paper daisies (Helichrysum) and other plants. The will lift their wing covers, the red being displayed as warning. They can also regurgitate a smelly fluid when handled.3, 4
