Pachydissus sp. belong to the family Cerambycidae, and commonly known as Longhorn, Long-horned or Longicorn Beetles, that include those in the genus Pachydissus. The beetles in this genus are medium to large in size, brown or grey with in the antennae often extending beyond apices of elytra.
The elytra are the two large sclerites posterior to the pronotum, which cover the wings. The elytral apices are tips of each elytron, where they meet along the elytral suture.1
Pachydissus is a widespread genus with at the time of writing, some 40 described species known from Africa, Asia, the Pacific region and Australia. In Australia they are widespread, recorded in all states and territories except Tasmania.
