There I was, just minding my own business, with my trusty mobile phone… thinking I wouldn’t mind snapping a few native bees in the park today…
And there they were… a couple of Lasioglossum (Homalictus) on the Polycalymma stuartii… 🙂 ok for us folks who like it in simple terms… a couple of bees on the poached egg daisies…
They are actually really tiny little bees, just like those small black ants, except now and then you see their thorax glisten in the sun… that metallic dark green sparkle… Peering closer, I whipped out my mobile and started to click away…
The sun was just too bright, so I had to hope that some of the photos would turn out.
Suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw something else zip in, onto the bee and then was gone… and I was still clicking…
Well, I thought… what was that all about ?? So I thought, let see if I caught the action on my mobile… I was shocked to put it mildly… but in an ecstatic sort of way…
The thought “sex in the city” came to mind… but, then no… “sex in the park” was more appropriate… and I had to laugh! 😂
After the deed, there she was, as if nothing had happen…
But what was even more amazing… when I looked back at the four photos, the time stamp showed… 1:58:56 AM on each photo… do you know what that means ? It took less then one second for the deed! Now that is amazing!! 😄
There is a snippet from a Cole Porter song… “bees do it…“
Now I know what he means… 🙂
And it is a first for me… 😀
