The Braconid Wasps are a group of parasitoid wasps in the family Braconidae, that are divided into about 47 subfamilys, with over 1,000 genera, and approximately 17,000 recongnised species (with many thousands that are undescribed). There is thought to be over 800 Australian species of the family Braconidae, subfamily Braconinae.
Braconid wasps are closely related to the ichneumonid wasps and parasitise the larvae of many insect groups in a similar way.
