Belair National Park Butterflies and MothsHeteronympha merope (Common Brown) Nemophora laurella

Nemophora laurella is a moth of the Adelidae family, found in the southern parts of Australia, having been documented in both South Australia and Victoria. It is an interesting looking moth, that has a metallic sheen to the wings. It has a wingspan of about 1 cm with antennae that are up to twice as long as the wings.

They are usually seen on the flowers of Bursaria spinosa, in the family Pittosporaceae. Bursaria spinosa is a flowering shrub to a small tree that is found mainly in the eastern and southern half of Australia.
