The Diamond Firetail (Stagonopleura guttata) is a small bird endemic to Australia.
The plumage on the top of its body is ash brown, with a grey crown, forehead and neck. The feathers below are white and with a crimson rump. There is a black band across the front of the neck that continues down to the flank that is dotted with white. The bill and eye ring are coral, and the legs and feet are dark grey.
The Diamond Firetails have been recorded building their nests into the base of the large stick-nests of a variety of bird of preys, including the Whistling Kite, Wedge-tailed Eagle, White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Brown Falcon, Nankeen Kestrel. Others Diamond Firetails build their nests among the prickly foliage of shrubs such as hakeas, boxthorn and even rose bushes.
