It is the male bowerbirds that build the bowers, that may be simple ground clearings to elaborate structures, to attract the female. The Regent Bowerbird are are known to mix a muddy greyish blue or pea green “saliva paint” in their mouths which they use to decorate their bowers. The bowers are made of stick and decorated with shells, seeds, berries and leaves.

The female bowerbird build the nest away from the bower. The nest is a saucer-shaped nest made of twigs measuring 30 cm high and 15–20 cm wide.
