Long time in the making, with construction works still continuing (at the time of writing), Barangaroo is already attracting visitors and tourists. With some amazing cityscape and skyline, there is plenty to see and photograph.
Once a disused container terminal, accessing the Western Harbour, it is now a dynamic residential, business and cultural hub.
One of the buildings that attracted praise and criticism is the 275 metre tower and podium, marking the northwest corner of the city’s main Central Business District, known as Crown Sydney (and also referred to as One Barangaroo). Designed by British architect Chris Wilkinson and WilkinsonEyre, One Barangaroo was designed to resemble three petals, twisting 275 metres into the sky. The building comprises luxury hotel rooms and suites, luxury residential apartments, waterfront restaurants, cafés, bars, and high-end shops.
There are three interconnected precincts: Barangaroo South, Central Barangaroo and Barangaroo Reserve. Access is available from the Barangaroo Ferry Wharf, Barangaroo Sydney Metro station (scheduled to open in 2024) and the Wynyard Walk, that provides an underground pedestrian short cut between Wynyard and Barangaroo South.
The Wulugul Walk provides a casual 11 km harbourside walk connecting Woolloomooloo to the Anzac Bridge.
