Commonly known as Broadleaf Sugarbush (Protea eximia), belongs to the Proteaceae family, a species of the genus Protea, which is both the botanical name and the common name of this group of flowering plants.

It is a plant that originates from South Africa – southern Cape Province, extending widely from about Worcester in the west to Port Elizabeth in the east, in a variety of habitats. It is one of the more adaptable of the Proteas for cultivation.

The Protea eximia can be seen in the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.
