Protea eximia, known commonly as the Broadleaf Sugarbush, belongs to the Proteaceae family, a species of the genus Protea, which is both the botanical name and the common name of this group of flowering plants.

The flowers of the Broadleaf Sugarbush are found at the terminal, at the end of long shoots. It is a erect sprawling shrub, growing up to 5 metres in height.
