Raymond Walters Japanangka

In this work Raymond depicts the Dreaming stories of water from his Grandfather’s country ‘Ngarleyekwerlang’. This is the Dreamtime in which there lived two spirit beings, one was Mpetyane Man and the other Ngala Man.

They were father and son. The father and son sat on two big hills, above which was this huge cloud. Attached to this cloud they both held ‘Head string’, rope made out of the ancestral hair. They sat there pulling the cloud towards them, showing their strength. It is Ngala who was the strongest and is the custodian of the Dreamtime songs from his country.
