Sometimes overlooked when resting on a hairy plant, the Hairy Crab Spider (Sidymella hirsuta) is a medium-sized crab spider that is covered in strong bristly hairs.

Similar in shape and appearance, the female is slightly larger then the male. The colour of the Hairy Crab Spider is variable, ranging from light cream and shades of brown to dark brown in colour. The lighter form is more common than the dark form.

Found along the east coast of Australia, down to Tasmania and southern part of Western Australia, the Hairy Crab Spider have been sighted in suburban parks and gardens.
