Commonly known as the Eucalyptus Tip-wilting Bug, the species Amorbus alternatus, have tube mouth parts (like all Amorbus spp) that is used to suck the sap out of the Eucalypt leaves.
Through the nymph (juvenile) stages, the Amorbus alternatus. undergo stages of moulting the skin, a process referred to as an “instar”. These instars can involve some dramatic colour changes, which for the novice, appear to be different species.
